New Sharks Rugby Mascot... What a joke

The Sharks kicked off their 2011 ABSA Currie Cup season on Saturday afternoon (16 July) with an absolute bang. A well deserved victory against the Blue Bulls. It was also at this match that the new mascot was revealed. The 3D animated version that appeared on the big screen and on the website seemed pretty good, and I don't think anybody was prepared for the mascot that appeared.

The new mascot looks more like a fat hunchbacked whale than a shark. Everyone who goes to the stadium is used to Sharkie running around the field, chasing the flasher girls, squirting his water pistol, doing push-ups etc. Sharkie was always this fit and energetic mascot. The design team for for the new mascot was a Cape Town based company and obviously Stormer supporters. People all over the country are laughing at the Sharks and asking how on earth did this mascot get approval?

The new Sharkie was unable to even break into a jog. I felt sorry for the poor guy in the suit. Sharkie looked out of place waddling around for a few minutes then going back into the tunnel for a breather. He was even unable to tie his shoelace.

Please guys bring back a more energetic and fun loving Sharkie who entertains the crowd! It was embarrassing to be a Sharks supporter with that mascot taking the field!
